The surprise has been that in the aftermath of a highly stressful change in my life, the hypnosis sessions are helping me to reduce anxiety and to sleep better. I have been using these CD's for a couple of months now. My weight is gradually dropping, which is what I wanted and expected. I love the emphasis on a healthy lifestyle.
He drops his volume at just the right time, and he is quite effective in teaching how to go into trance or self-hypnotic state. Gurgevich means making over your mind so you can make over your dietary habits and health habits. The second CD focuses on healthy habits. Plus I have time before bed. This explains how beliefs, stress, nervousness and tension inhibit your motivation and strength in completing your "total makeover." By "makeover", Dr. There are various self-hypnosis tracks for self-love and acceptance, self-control and temptation, emotional barriers and also detractors and saboteurs.
You will not lose weight by simply playing this in your CD player as background noise. I wish I had remembered this technique sooner, but I did buy a copy of this CD and I'm so pleased to be able to relax and focus using Gurgevich's method of trance. It makes me smile now. So far, I love the relaxing effect and I recommend this set for people serious to learn self-hypnosis and visualization. At first, I found his voice not at all to my liking but as I perfected my ability to go into relaxation state, I found his tone quite appealing. If you've purchased this set, my suggestion is to stick with it and concentrate on the relaxation techniques and enjoy the feeling, because you may associate Gurgevich's light tenor with very pleasant relaxing half hours, as I do.
I was taught self-hypnosis years ago by a good friend and once you learn how to put yourself in a state of deep relaxation, you can work on reshaping your thoughts. There are three CD's. Gurgevich guides you on relaxation that affirms your good habits and encourages deep and relaxed sleep. I actually agree with that. The second trance is intended for before dinnertime--to help you enjoy preparing and eating dinner and handling hunger and craving. The third CD has you do three half-hour sessions of self-hypnosis. Dr. Morning is done before breakfast to motivate you and energize you for the day while keeping you in a state of calmness.
Gurgevich is an associate of Andrew Weil, MD, the well-known holistic physician, and he is an expert in hypnotic techniques. Gurgevich's voice soothing. The three-a-day trance sessions do not have a tremendous amount of suggestion about self-affirmation or eating habits--they are more about relaxation and focusing on your "total makeover"--which you visualize using the second CD. I'm taking this stepwise--you can always go back, re-visualize the "makeover" and make it more particular to your situation (more healthy foods, editing out other ones, more working out, whatever you need to step up your game). The final trance is meant to be done before bed (or in bed).
It was frankly more difficult to carve out two more half hour session for the morning and dinnertime tracks--but rescheduling for relaxation isn't a bad thing. I find I'm more energized when I wake up to do my workout, and I also find I sleep much better and more deeply if I listen to the evening session regularly. All action starts as thought, and results come from beginning by visualizing and thinking positively. So you need to spend some time doing visualization of YOUR makeover first, and then you will find the three-a-day half hours have more meaning. Once you've fixed in your mind what your "total makeover" looks like (eating healthy foods, relaxing, working out, ignoring temptation and naysayers) you can cue into the visualization during these sessions as a sort of "short-cut" when the word "makeover" is used. This isn't necessarily a linear set of CD's. It is not a "listen-and-lose-weight-effortlessly" instant pill. Some reviewers have commented they don't find Dr.
The first one explains self-hypnosis. It takes, they say, sixty days to impress an new habit into your mind, so you'd have to give it time. This track is my favorite and actually, I started listening to it first, because I knew it would remind me how to regain a self-hynosis state most easily. I found those three half hours. You visualize what you need, then use the daily practice to relax and focus your mind on your goals and habits. This requires a committment, but it's well worth it.
So far it has been working, I am eating less and have lost 5 lbs.
I have not had enough time to devote to the CD since purchase but it is of excellent quality and I believe I have already touched on some emotional work, thanks to the program, that will help me to move past the weight issues I am having. Thank you.
The number one thing I like about this CD is the section that has you focus on being positive about your weight loss goals. I wasn't sure what to expect with this CD, as I have never listened to a self-hypnosis tape before. Instead of getting up every morning and looking in the mirror and thinking negative thoughts about myself, now I focus on the positive---seeing myself as where I want to be in the future. I was pleasantly surprised. It is so relaxing that I feel that the "de-stressing" benefit I get at the end of the day is an additional plus. It was amazing how these words really sink in. I highly recommend this CD.
